The Butterfly & The Pig

Situated in the heart of Glasgow City Centre, we have restored an old Georgian townhouse to create multiple venues with their own unique style.  The Butterfly and the Pig comprises of a restaurant, public bar, tearoom, nightclub and multiple function rooms. Despite its size we have always tried to create an individual and unique atmosphere within all the different services we provide.

The Butterfly and the Pig is situated in the basement level of the building and is split into two areas, the restaurant and the bar area.  With its stylish, shabby chic mismatch furniture and deep red mahogany floor, the bar area is a more relaxed space where during the day people meet for a meal or drinks, whilst in the evening this area can rapidly fill up as people come in to listen to one of various music nights. At the weekends the resident bands play a mixture of blues, 50’s/60’s rock n roll and more modern songs with a twist.  During the week the entertainment takes a more sedate form with open mic nights and our famous Wednesday night jazz session hosted by the students of the Royal Conservatoire.

However, without doubt the central attraction of the Butterfly and the Pig is the traditional Scottish recipes and local ingredients served in a contemporary and unique way.   We have reinvigorated classic dishes such as Desparate Dan’s Steak Pie, our open fish cake served in a frying pan and our whisky flamed haggis, neeps and tatties whilst also doing more speciality dishes such lamb cutlets with a black pudding, bacon and apple salad or grilled fillets of sea bass simply cooked with lemon butter and capers to bring out the flavours of the fish.  Good food shouldn’t always have to be too serious and with our tongue-in-cheek worded menu and the generous portions our aim is to fill you full until you rub your tum!

The tearooms and private meeting rooms take up the majority of the traditional sandstone townhouse. On entering the foyer you’ll find our traditional British tearooms serving homemade delights throughout the day starting with breakfast through to lunch and finishing the day with afternoon tea.  Leading up our grand spiral staircase, the upper floors host our private dining and meeting rooms.  With multimedia facilities in each room we are able to host bespoke events for between 10-50 guests. Our in-house pastry chefs and the team of chefs from The Butterfly and the Pig ensure we can deliver high quality, locally sourced traditional menus for all types of events.

At the rear of the property, the 1930’s store house has been converted into a late night venue where you can finish your evening with a relaxed drink in the prohibition era ground floor bar of The Buff Low Café or dance the night away to funk and soul music upstairs in the social club vibe of The Buff Club.

From dawn til dusk the Butterfly and the Pig offer a professional but unique service that will bring character and charm to your event.
