Glasgow is one of the world’s top sporting cities thanks to investment in world-class facilities and its international sporting events programme.
In 2018, it was ranked fifth in the world in the Ultimate Sports City Awards ahead of much bigger, Olympic cities including Los Angeles, Tokyo, Sydney and Paris.
Conferences can benefit from these facilities should they wish to run sporting activities alongside the main conference programme. Activities such as 5K runs, football matches and bike rides provide a fun, welcome break from conference sessions and are a great way to raise money for a charity partner or good cause.
Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe
Over 6,000 medical experts from across the globe gathered in Glasgow for the world’s largest interventional radiology congress CIRSE. The event aimed to raise awareness and understanding of interventional radiology and its benefits.
Alongside the conference, delegates took part in the BTG Charity Run and Football Cup at Scotstoun Stadium. This helped to raise over 6,000 euros for charity.
